Herbicidal Spraying Notification 2017
The Lawrence County Engineer through its contractors will be conducting Herbicidal Spraying along County Maintained Road beginning May 15th and periodically throughout the summer in order to control invasive weeds, brush and grasses that cause obstructions to the traveling public. These applications will include guardrail and signs, roadside Johnson Grass and Brush. All mowed yards and maintained roadsides will not be sprayed. Anyone not wanting roadside brush / Johnson Grass sprayed along their property adjacent to the County Roadway may fill out a form available from the Engineer's office agreeing to maintain the roadside along their property as opposed to County spraying. You may not opt-out of Roadside mowing unless you completely mow the entire right of way adjacent to your property. To obtain the Herbicidal Opt-Out application please visit our website at www.lawrencecountyengineer.org or contact the office at 740-533-4317.

Herbicidal Spraying Notification and Opt Out Form
The Lawrence County Engineer through its contractors will be conducting Herbicidal Spraying along County Maintained Road beginning May 1st and periodically throughout the summer in order to control invasive weeds, brush and grasses. County Engineer Announces County Road 54 Bridge Replacement
Lawrence County Engineer Doug Cade announced today that County Road 54 (Dog Fork Road) will be closed from Tuesday, August 9, 2011 through Friday, August 12, 2011 at the intersection with SR 217 for bridge replacement. This bridge is located 0.05 miles from SR 217 near Kitts Hill. Through Traffic may detour over SR 141, CR 53, CR 6, to SR 217 to avoid this area.

County Joint Road Resurfacing 2011
Sealed Bids will be received by the Administrator of The Board of County Commissioners at the Lawrence County Courthouse located in Ironton, Ohio, until 11:00 a.m. local time, July 29, 2011, at which time the bids received will be opened and read aloud for furnishing all labor, materials, and equipment necessary to resurface various County Roads, Township Roads and City Streets in accordance with the Lawrence County Engineer’s specifications.
Bids must be in accordance with specifications and bidding documents that may be obtained from the Lawrence County Commissioners' or Lawrence County Engineer's Office at 111 South 4th Street, Ironton, Ohio 45638.
Each bidder is required to furnish with its proposal, a Bid Guaranty and Contract Bond in accordance with Section 153.54 of the Ohio Revised Code. Bid security furnished in Bond form, shall be issued by a Surety Company or Corporation licensed in the State of Ohio to provide said surety.
Each Proposal must contain the full name of the party or parties submitting the proposal and all persons interested therein. Each bidder must submit evidence of its experiences on projects of similar size and complexity. The owner intends and requires that this project be completed no later than October 31, 2011.
All contractors and subcontractors involved with the project will, to the extent practicable use Ohio Products, materials, services, and labor in the implementation of their project. Additionally, contractor compliance with the equal employment opportunity requirements of Ohio Administrative Code Chapter 123, the Governor's Executive Order of 1972, and Governor's Executive Order 84-9 shall be required.
Bidders must comply with the prevailing wage rates on Public Improvements in Lawrence County, Ohio as determined by the Ohio Bureau of Employment Services, Wage and Hour Division.
This contract is funded in part with funds from the Ohio Public Works Commission. Proposals will be let with one contract on a unit price basis. The Commissioners reserve the right to waive irregularities and reject any or all bids.

County Engineer Receives $925,180 for Projects

Lawrence County Engineer Doug Cade announced today that his office has received funding from the Ohio Public Works Commission for two projects, the Annual County Resurfacing and County Road 6 Emergency Landslide Repair projects. The projects represent $925,180 of grant funding from the State of Ohio and $926,750 from local project funds.

County crews cleaning up slides

PROCTORVILLE — When spring is nigh, can the landslides of Lawrence County be far away?
That’s what has kept the crews of the County Engineer’s Office occupied as they spent Tuesday cleaning up two slides in the eastern end of the county.
“It’s from the heavy rains and wet condition over the wintertime,” Engineer Doug Cade said. “It is pretty much a common occurrence in Lawrence County.”
Crews spent the morning repairing a slide that had partially closed a segment of County Road 2, or Greasy Ridge, about a quarter of a mile south of the Windsor Township Fire Station.
“We are getting that repaired until we can make a permanent repair this spring,” Cade said. “It dropped down about a foot and covered the road about one and a half lanes.”
In the afternoon the crews were out at County Road 64 or Venisonham Camp Road.
“We had a landslide due to heavy rains and saturated soil,” Cade said. “We lost about a lane of roadway there.”
Right now the crews worked on temporary repair work.
“(Permanent work) will be later this spring,” he said. “Partly because we have several other projects to get to.”
Cade has yet to determine the cost for repairing the roadways.
The engineer’s office is also working on a plan to clear out a logjam on Reeves Creek.
“That is causing the roadway to wash away,” Cade said. “We are trying to find a solution to get that fixed. It will take some larger equipment than we have. Hopefully, within a week or two we will get that fixed.”
